Visiting the Museum

Q: DO MEMBERS HAVE TO MAKE ADVANCE RESERVATIONS?

No, members have access to walk-in entry, even if entry times have sold out online. Just check-in at the front desk. No advance online reservation necessary for members. 

Q: HOW DO I USE MY MEMBER GUEST PASSES?

Member guest passes can be redeemed on-site for complimentary admission to the permanent collection and special exhibitions, even if entry times have sold out. Guest passes must be presented at admissions to be redeemed.

Guest passes are not accepted for paid events, such as Phillips after 5, Phillips Music concerts, etc.

Q: I AM BRINGING A FRIEND WHO IS NOT A MEMBER. DO I HAVE TO GET A TICKET FOR THEM?

Yes, to ensure entry for guests not covered by member benefits or guest passes, please reserve a ticket.


Reciprocal Benefits

Q: WHAT RECIPROCAL MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS DO PHILLIPS MEMBERS RECEIVE? 

A: The Phillips participates in several reciprocal museum networks, offering discounts for members at the Friend level and above to more than 1,200 museums across the country. Simply present your Phillips Collection card at the time of your visit to any of the participating museums.

Phillips Exclusive: Members at the Friend, Contributing Friend, and Supporting Friend levels receive free admission for two to the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Q: I AM A MEMBER OF A RECIPROCAL INSTITUTION. WHAT BENEFITS DO I RECEIVE AT THE PHILLIPS?

A: Qualifying members of reciprocal institutions receive complimentary museum admission for two to the permanent collection and the special exhibition on view. Advance reservations are not required. Please present a valid membership card from your home institution on the day of your visit to claim admission. 

Thank you for understanding that reciprocity does not include complimentary admission to ticketed programs or events such as Phillips After 5, music concerts, etc.

Q: IS MY MEMBERSHIP REFUNDABLE?

A: No, memberships are not refundable.

Q: I’M INTERESTED IN UPGRADING MY MEMBERSHIP TO A HIGHER LEVEL. DO I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL MY CURRENT MEMBERSHIP EXPIRES?

A: No, you do not have to wait. You may upgrade your membership at any time during the year. Call the Membership Office at 202.387.3036 and begin taking advantage of the perks of an upper category of membership.

Q: I’M MOVING AND I DON’T WANT TO MISS ANY PHILLIPS COLLECTION MAILINGS. WHAT CAN I DO?

A: Call the Membership office at 202.387.3036, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If the museum is closed, leave a message with your new address and a phone number where we can reach you in case we have any questions. Or, fill out a change of address form at the Membership Desk in the lobby of the museum when you visit.

Q: I’VE LOST MY MEMBERSHIP CARD(S). CAN I GET REPLACEMENTS?

A: Yes, you can get replacement cards. Call the Membership Office at 202.387.3036, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If the office is closed, please leave a message and we will respond as soon as possible. Or, fill out a replacement card form at the Membership Desk in the lobby of the museum. 

Q: I FORGOT MY PASSWORD. HOW DO I RESET IT?
