Event Details

Azam Ahmed, Bureau Chief for Mexico, Central America, and the Carribbean at The New York Times, will lead a #PhillipsConversation about constructing and destroying walls. Guided by works in Markus Lüpertz, the conversation will explore the larger political and cultural effects of structures like the former Berlin Wall and the proposed American wall with Mexico on local and global society.

This discussion is part of a series of open conversations that further engage audiences on larger issues represented in the special exhibition. Modeled after town halls, these in-gallery conversations are facilitated by experts and thought leaders with experience addressing current socio-cultural and political movements or other topics related to themes found in the artwork.

This conversation will be streamed live on the Phillips’s Facebook page here.  Please note that this conversation will take place in the galleries. Seating is limited and available first come, first served.
