Clara and Oliver Neubauer

Siblings Clara and Oliver Neubauer have been performing together for as long as they can remember, and their deep musical bond resonates with the spirit of artistic exchange at the heart of the museum’s exhibitions this season. Clara, recipient of Juilliard’s Peter Mennin Prize, and Oliver, winner of the Young Concert Artists Auditions, present a program featuring 20th-century duos by Reinhold Glière, Sergei Prokofiev, Béla Bartók, and Eugène Ysaÿe, as well as the Washingon D.C. premiere of Amos Elkana’s Mostly Cloudy.

Presented in partnership with Young Concert Artists.

Clara Neubauer, violin
Oliver Neubauer, violin

Praised for her “seductive artistry” and “rare grace” (Classical Voice North America), violinist Clara Neubauer was a recipient of the Peter Mennin Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership in Music from The Juilliard School and the Ana Chumachenco Award from Kronberg Academy. She has appeared at the Marlboro, Ravinia, Taos, Prussia Cove, Music@Menlo, Angel Fire, and Olympic Music Festivals, collaborating with artists such as Mitsuko Uchida, Itzhak Perlman, and Steven Isserlis. She joins the Bowers Program at Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center for the 2027–2030 seasons. Recent performances include appearances at the Caramoor Center, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Rome Chamber Music Festival, and an international tour with Musicians from Marlboro.

Since making her solo debut at age ten with the National Repertory Orchestra, she has appeared as soloist with ensembles across the U.S. and Europe, including the Symphony of Westchester, Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn, New York Concerti Sinfonietta, and Ensemble 212. A recipient of the Kovner Fellowship, Clara studied at The Juilliard School with Li Lin, Itzhak Perlman, and Catherine Cho. She served as concertmaster of The Juilliard Orchestra, including a performance conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. Beginning this fall, she will attend Kronberg Academy as a student of Mihaela Martin. Clara can also be heard as the voice of the audio guide at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum alongside Robert De Niro.

Hailed as “a shining example of the whole package…superb technique, a big glistening, singing tone, and the kind of taste and judgement that make a musician always worth hearing” (New York Classical Review) and “bright, clean, and characterful” (The Strad), violinist Oliver Neubauer is the First Prize winner of the 2023 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. A 2025 laureate of the Fondation Gautier Capuçon and student of Mihaela Martin at the Kronberg Academy, Oliver is a graduate of the Juilliard School, where he studied with Li Lin, Itzhak Perlman, and Donald Weilerstein as a Kovner Fellow. He has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the Brevard, Delaware, Westchester, and Springfield Symphonies and the National Repertory Orchestra, and received the Prix de l’APCAV at the Verbier Festival. A passionate chamber musician, Oliver is a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Bowers Program. He has performed alongside artists including Itzhak Perlman, Sir András Schiff, Steven Isserlis, Gidon Kremer, Torlief Thedéen, Carter Brey, Fred Sherry, Shai Wosner, and Enrico Pace. His festival appearances include Marlboro, Music@Menlo, Verbier Academy, Four Seasons, Perlman Music Program, and Chamber Music Northwest. Recent seasons have included recital debuts at Carnegie’s Weill Hall (as recipient of the Gerschen Cohen Award), Merkin Hall, the Morgan Library, the Kennedy Center, and chamber music appearances at Wigmore Hall, Carnegie’s Zankel Hall, and Alice Tully Hall. He performs on the 1727 “Milstein” Guarneri del Gesù violin, on loan from the Ryuji Ueno Foundation and Rare Violins in Consortium.
