Studio Practice as a Tool for Cross-Curricular Critical Thinking
Integrating Art into Classroom Curricula (Session 1)
In this one-week in-person Summer Institute for Teachers, educators will explore how art can serve as a tool for inquiry across disciplines. Through close looking, discussion, and studio practices, educators will examine how we make meaning from what we see and how our assumptions, experiences, and perspectives shape interpretation.
Educators will engage in cycles of observation, questioning, interpretation, and reflection, using art as a vehicle for thinking. Educators will consider how inquiry-driven, arts-based learning can support social-emotional learning and critical thinking across subject areas.
