The Phillips Plays
Artist Process: Jacob Lawrence
Bring your family to investigate materials, methods, and ideas in art.
Introducing a special series of The Phillips Plays that explores the creative process of artists in the permanent collection and special exhibitions. In July, learn how Jacob Lawrence applied color to his 60-panel Migration Series one color at a time, and create your own artwork using a similar process.
In addition to exploring art materials and methods in the studio, families may enjoy the carpeted, creative-play area with blocks, books, toys, and games.
