The Phillips Plays
Abstract Collage
Bring your family to investigate materials, methods, and ideas in art.
Explore the colors, lines, and shapes of Miró and the United States. Imagine if you could travel inside these artworks! What or who might you find there? With a special guest from the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum, we’ll take a closer look at the work of Joan Miró and his American contemporaries and create abstract collages.
In addition to exploring art materials and methods in the studio, families may enjoy the carpeted, creative-play area with blocks, books, toys, and games.
