Hear from the Artist: Tiffané White
Staff Show 2025

For over three decades, The Phillips Collection has honored the artistic talents of its staff through the annual James McLaughlin Memorial Staff Show. This beloved tradition showcases the creative work of museum employees across departments. As part of the exhibition, the “Hear from the Artist” series invites participating artists to lead 15-minute tours of their work, offering visitors personal insights and behind-the-scenes perspectives into their creative process.

About Tiffané White
About 8 years ago, Tiffané White’s dog walks past backyard gardens in her neighborhood ignited her desire to start planting one of her own. She started growing tomatoes and cucumbers, eventually planning an edible garden in her front yard, a vegetable garden in her backyard and a variety of plants in a community garden plot.
She loved experimenting with seeds and lesser-known plants. With a background in photography honed decades ago at Howard University, Tiffané began documenting first fruits and patterns in nature. In the past, she loved manipulating light on photographic paper and printing images in the dark room. Now she’s enthralled with the effects of digital imagery. She continues to explore nature’s intricate details, to make collages of people like she used to and hopes to share more of her photographic work in the near future.
