PreK
PreK students used all their senses on a tour of the galleries, making connections to art through sound, sight, touch, taste, and smell. In the workshop, they painted with smell and color, creating artworks that engage the senses.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten students investigated color, line, and shape in the galleries, then “took a line for a walk” in the art workshop, inspired by Paul Klee.
Grade 1
First grade students explored what makes museums special and what goes on behind the scenes. Then, they created their own miniature art galleries, demonstrating how artwork and spaces can tell stories.
Grade 2
Second grade students explored how nature is represented and celebrated through artworks in the collection. Then, they made their own colorful block prints in the art workshop that represent things they appreciate about nature.

Grade 3
Third grade students from The River School, Washington, DC, visited The Phillips Collection to learn about identity in art—specifically, the way artists layer pieces of their identity into their work. As part of their visit, students created identity collages inside their unique silhouettes.
