Member Morning: Coffee and Conversation
Jefferson Place Gallery

Grab a cup of coffee and join us for a Zoom presentation by Renee Maurer, Associate Curator at The Phillips Collection. Maurer curated a permanent collection installation highlighting artists who were represented by Jefferson Place Gallery (1957-1974), a small cooperative art gallery located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. The gallery was dedicated to promoting and exhibiting the work of DC-area artists, including Washington Color School painters like Kenneth Noland, Gene Davis, and Thomas Downing, as well as Sam Gilliam and William Christenberry. Duncan and Marjorie Phillips were frequent visitors to the gallery and acquired some of the paintings on view there.
