Event Details
Join us on Zoom as we create stories inspired by Allan Rohan Crite’s Parade on Hammond Street (1935), a celebration of family, ritual, and community. After exploring Crite’s cityscape, we will connect it to other paintings in the collection. Just like curators in museums, we will select and arrange artworks in creative ways to tell our own stories.
Materials Needed:
- Printer for printing selected images from The Phillips Collection’s website. You will receive a list of images before the program.
- Drawing paper, color pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, glue
To Prepare:
- Look carefully at Crite’s Parade on Hammond Street. What do you notice? What connections do you make to your family’s life?
- Practice looking closely with Artful Thinking Strategies. Visit Harvard’s Project Zero Thinking Routines for See-Think-Wonder instructions.
