Event Details

Goin’ to Chicago (1994) chronicles one of the most momentous yet least heralded sagas of American history—the Great Migration of African Americans from the rural South to the cities of the North and West in search of a better life.  After World War II, millions of African Americans created a dynamic urban culture outside the South, changing America forever.

Part of a film series for The Warmth of Other Suns: Stories of Global Displacement.
