Temporary exhibitions at The Phillips Collection include a wide variety of offerings, from major special exhibitions to more focused groupings of works from the collection, and from interactive art projects to shows by the young students served by the museum's educational programs.Special exhibitions are a signature element at the Phillips, offering new perspectives on the work of contemporary and modern artists. Some find innovative approaches to the work of famous modern artists, while others bring forward the works of those who are less known. Often, works from different institutions are displayed together for the first time, offering fresh visual insights.
Extending its reach beyond Washington, D.C., the museum regularly organizes major traveling exhibitions to cities around the United States and the world.
