Event Details

Explore the concept of dreams with Neo-Impressionism and the Dream of Realities. Hear the colorful sounds of the Wytold Ensemble, enjoy Impressionism-inspired arias of the Washington National Opera, make a dream catcher, learn about the history of America’s favorite spirit, and explore how artists painted dream-like compositions during gallery talks.

Enjoy the progressive world rhythms and bright bowed melodies of the Wytold Ensemble, featuring Jerry Tolk (electric guitar/banjo and light percussion) and Ethan Foote (double bass). Wytold is an NS Design featured artist, recent Strathmore Artist in Residence, and Maryland State Arts Council 2014 Individual Artist Award recipient.

GALLERY TALK
6, 6:30, 7 & 7:30 p.m.

15-minute focused discussions about works in the special exhibition.

Performance
6, 7, & 8 PM

Members of Washington National Opera’s Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program perform arias by composers inspired by Impressionism, including Claude Debussy, Giacomo Puccini, Samuel Barber, and Stephen Sondheim.

Vodka and the Dream of Realities
7 pm

Did you know that the creator of Grey Goose vodka claims he came up with the idea in a dream?  The Weekly Standard writer and editor Victorino Matus shares the history of America’s favorite spirit and his new book Vodka: How a Colorless, Odorless, Flavorless Spirit Conquered America.
