Philip Glass Solo Piano Concert and Dinner: An Extraordinary Evening with the Artist

Through his operas, his symphonies, his compositions for his own ensemble, and his wide-ranging collaborations with artists ranging from Twyla Tharp to Allen Ginsberg, Woody Allen to David Bowie, Philip Glass has had an extraordinary and unprecedented impact upon the musical and intellectual life of his times.  Glass will perform a solo piano concert which will be followed by a dinner prepared by award-winning chef Brian McBride of Blue Duck Tavern.

The Phillips Camerata

A rare glimpse into Glenn Gould’s mind as a composer. This solitary, intensely fugal string quartet is explored in the same room that hosted his 1955 American debut. Weber's Op. 34 Clarinet Quintet showcases the clarinet's virtuosic capacity for operatic style. Fama Quartet

Connecting the past and the presence, shaping the music of New World, and at the same time, re-interpreting the heritage of the European tradition. Through Antonín Dvořák and Karel Husa we realize the influence of these two remarkable composers on both musical scenes – the U.S. and the Czech one. Dvořák came in 1892 and stayed shortly, Husa in 1951 and remained for life - both left an imprint of significance, of humanity and transcendence. Daedalus Quartet

Praised by The New Yorker as a "fresh and vital young participant in what is the golden age of American string quartets," the Daedalus Quartet has established itself as a leader among the new generation of string ensembles. Their program features the complete string quartets of American composer Fred Lerdahl. The Third Quartet, a Pulitzer Prize finalist written for the quartet, has its world premiere at the Phillips, rounding out a cycle of three works written over the course of more than thirty years intended both as individual pieces and as a unified set to be performed together.
