Kathy Aghalarpour Gold is a special education teacher at West Side Collaborative (WSC). She has taught there for several years and greatly enjoys the student-centered, project-based learning environment. She teaches seventh grade social studies, English, and sixth and eighth grade science classes. Kathy earned a bachelor's degree in social studies secondary education at New York University and a graduate degree in teaching students with learning disabilities at nearby Hunter College. From these academic programs, she has learned how to design a differentiated curriculum that addresses the varied learning needs of her students, thereby allowing them to shine at a level that is appropriate to their abilities. Kathy feels very fortunate to have been part of the Teach with O'Keeffe project. The project opened her eyes to the significance of arts integration. She believes that the visual arts are an accessible resource for all student.
