Event Details

Formed in 2010, the CAAWC comprises choirs from six remote Indigenous communities in Australia’s Northern Territory. The CAAWC is the custodian of a continuous choral tradition going back almost 120 years when German mission pioneers first made contact with the Western Arrarnta speaking community of Ntaria. The choir sings in Western Arrarnta and Pitjantjatjara languages. The CAAWC will sing some of the paintings featured in the exhibition Marking the Infinite at 11 am and 3 pm.

There will be a screening of the documentary The Song Keepers at 12pm in between performances by the Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir (CAAWC). The Song Keepers follows the choir as they embarked on their first international tour to Germany in 2015. Director and Producer Naina Sen will facilitate a Q&A session following the screening.
