Houston-based transdisciplinary artist Dario Robleto will share thoughts on his research-driven creative process with Dr. Joshua Shannon, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies, Art History and Archaeology and Director of The Potomac Center for the Study of Modernity at the University of Maryland. Robleto’s use of unconventional materials inspire meditative contemplation on social, scientific, and poetic sensibilities. In 2015, Robleto joined a distinguished team of scientists as the Artistic Consultant to Breakthrough Message—a multinational effort that aims to encourage intellectual and technical debate about how and what to communicate if the current search for intelligent beings beyond Earth is successful.
