Event Details

Working since the mid-1960s, Linda Mary Montano is a seminal figure in contemporary feminist performance art. Her performances include Handcuff (1973), in which she was tied to artist Tom Marioni for three days, and artist Tehching Hsieh’s One Year Performance (1983‒1984), which bound the two artists together by a short length of rope for a year. For Seven Years of Living Art (1984–1991), an endurance performance based on chakras, Montano wore a single color of clothing, spending a portion of each day in a colored room listening to a designated tone. In conversation with Corcoran School of Arts and Design at The George Washington University professor Lisa Lipinski.

Please note that this conversation features a performance. The artist invites attendees to come dressed in one color of the rainbow or in all white.
