Praised for her recent CD, Oscillations, which juxtaposes works by Beethoven and Stravinsky, two composers rarely mentioned in the same breath, Israeli pianist Einav Yarden has established herself as an idiomatic performer with fresh perspectives on the piano literature. She performs Bach’s English Suite No. 2, the Valses Nobles et Sentimentales by Ravel, and one of the only three piano sonatas by Schubert published in the composer’s lifetime, the Sonata in G Major, D. 894.

About the Artist

Pianist Einav Yarden is praised for her “exceptionally vivid articulation… inquisitive narrative flow” (General Anzeiger, Germany), and her “glistening rapture…ingenious humor” (Tagesspiegel, Germany). In 2005 she completed four years of study with the renowned pianist Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Conservatory, earning with high honors a Masters of Music and a Graduate Performance Diploma. Prior to that she received a Bachelors of Music from the Rubin Music Academy of the Tel Aviv University under the instruction of Prof. Emanuel Krasovsky, and her early education was with Hadassa Gonen. Other eminent teacher include Georgian pianist Elisso Virsaladze, Richard Goode, and Prof. Zvi Meniker.

In 2013 she released her debut solo CD, Oscillations, on the label Challenge Classics. The CD received international praise and was selected as CD of the Month on the important German magazine ‘Piano News’.

Yarden has appeared as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin and Rundfunk Chor, Minnesota Symphony, Beethoven Orchester Bonn, Bucharest Philharmonic, Calgary Philharmonic, Jerusalem Symphony, Plovdiv Philharmonic, the Israel Symphony Rishon
Le-Zion, under conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Aldo Ceccato, Leon Botstein, Stefan Blunier, Horia Andreescu, Mark Russell Smith, Simon Halsey, Mendi Rodan, and many others.

She was 3rd Prize Winner at the 2009 International Beethoven Piano Competition in Bonn, a Prize Winner at the 2006 Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition, and a Finalist at the 2003 Honens International Piano Competition. In addition, in 2001 she won First Prize at the Aviv Competitions, the most distinguished national competition in Israel, taking the Guralnik Prize and the Zilbermann Prize for performance of a contemporary Israeli work. From 1996–2005 she was a recipient of AICF scholarships, an important scholarship institution in Israel.

Noteworthy stages she performed on include the Berlin Philharmonie and the Berlin Philharmonie Chamber Music Hall, the Beethoven-Haus Bonn, Berlin Konzerthaus, the French festival ‘La Roque d’Antheron,’ Schumannsaal in Düsseldorf, multiple solo appearences in ‘Flâneries Musicales de Reims’ festival. She has given recitals in Paris’s Salle Cortot, in the Auditorium of the Musée d’Orsay, and in the Grand Salon of the Hotel des Invalides. As part of Lucerne Festival in 2008, she was personally invited by Andras Schiff to take part in an intensive workshop on the five Beethoven concerti, which was recorded and televised throughout Japan.

Her other festival appearances include the Ruhr Piano Festival (Germany), Steans Institute for Young Artists of Ravinia Festival (USA), Verbier Festival (Switzerland), Menton Festival (France), Upper-Galilee Chamber Music Festival (Israel), Aspen Festival (USA), and IMS Prussia Cove (England) among others. Her performances have been broadcast on BBC (England), Deutsches Welle, WDR, Deutschlandradio Kultur (Germany), France-Musique (France), WQXR (New York), WFMT (Chicago), MPR (Minnesota), WBJC (Baltimore), CBC (Canada) and Israel’s Kol Hamusica. While living in Israel, Yarden was a member of the country’s leading contemporary group, the Israeli Contemporary Players with whom she also appeared as a soloist. She continues to integrate contemporary and lesser known repertoire into her performances. A passionate chamber musician, she regularly devotes herself to collaborations with other musicians. Yarden is based in Berlin.
