Intermission

Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847)
String Octet in E-flat Major, Op. 20

Now in its second season, our ensemble-in-residence, The Phillips Camerata, continues to carry the Phillips name and remarkable musical history into the concert circuit. Comprised of a flexible roster of leading instrumentalists from the D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York areas, the Camerata offers a range of performances throughout the season.

Under the artistic direction of Caroline Mousset, the Camerata opens and closes the season with works by Debussy, Ravel, Mendelssohn, and Enescu. In partnership with the National Gallery of Art, we jointly present the exciting Beethoven Piano Concerto Cycle, featuring the first four concertos in a quintet arrangement by Vincenz Lachner, and the fifth in full orchestra setting.
