Teaching Kits

Teaching Kits

The Phillips's teaching kits offer K-12 teachers and others a wealth of information, curricula, and multimedia resources on topics related to works of art and special exhibitions at The Phillips Collection. The kits are developed with input from Phillips mentor teachers and advisors from across the community and the country. The kits reflect best practices in cross-curricular learning with a focus on visual literacy and critical thinking skills.

Teaching kits include a variety of resources, such as an educators' guide, a CD-ROM with works of art and primary sources (letters, maps, period photographs), overhead transparencies, posters, curricula, and step-by-step lesson plans.

Not just for art teachers, the teaching kits are equally popular with other curriculum specialists who find that arts education is a valuable window on subjects such as history, math, English, English as a second language, and geography.

Although designed for classroom use, Phillips teaching kits also serve the larger public, offering an abundance of resources and information to families and to art enthusiasts of all ages.
