The Phillips Collection is committed to bringing Duncan Phillips’s “intimate museum combined with an experiment station” into the work environment. The Phillips seeks to build its dedicated and creative team with new volunteers. All volunteers are asked to make a one-year commitment.

Volunteers can contribute to The Phillips Collection in several ways:

Art information volunteers

Art information volunteers greet and provide information to visitors. Volunteers learn about the museum's history, the permanent collection, special exhibitions, and other visitor information. They serve a minimum of two shifts per month and must attend fall and spring training sessions.

Departmental volunteers

Departmental Volunteers assist curatorial, development, and other departments with assignments that range from research to clerical work, based on departmental requests. These opportunities may be one-time, one-project, or ongoing. Departmental volunteers attend the same training sessions as the art information volunteers; specific training is on the job.

Volunteer children's docents

Volunteer children’s docents help facilitate school programs at the museum that introduce students from kindergarten through eighth grade to works of art at the Phillips. If you have a passion for helping students connect to art and a genuine interest in hearing their ideas, then we need you!
