Position: Undergraduate Internship

Overview:

The Phillips Collection's Internship program is open to full-time undergraduate students. The purpose of The Phillips Collection internship program is to give students meaningful work and educational experiences in their area of academic study.

The undergradute intern will assist staff with day-to-day operations of the department. Undergraduate internships offerings may be available in the following departments:  Education, Directors Office, Human Resources, and Development.

Salary/Pay: Unpaid

Duration: Eight continuous weeks and at least 16 hours per week is preferred. However, depending upon the needs of a given department, internship length and schedule may vary.

**Application deadline dates are as follows:

**Spring Internships: November 20

**Summer Internships: April 20

**Fall Internships: July 20

*Dates are subject to change.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Performing clerical work.
  • Supporting departmental staff.
  • Assisting staff with group tours (in Education Department only).
  • Performing other duties as assigned. 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Background in art history or fine arts education is preferred.
  • Ability to work occasional weekend and evening events as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and computer abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well with others.
  • Previous experience in an art museum setting desirable but not required
  • Experiencing working with children and families is helpful
  • Academic Credit: Depending on the nature of the internship and approval of the student's college or university, academic credit may be granted for TPC internships. Student applicants should consult their academic advisor for your expectations of how a Phillips Collections internship will benefit you.
