Position: Internship - Summer/Fall

Overview:

The intern will work with members of The Phillips Collection's Development staff.  Development is responsible for the fundraising activities of the museum, including Membership, Major Gifts, Planned Giving, Corporate Giving, Foundation Giving, Government Funding, Special Events, Music Programs, and Building Rentals.

Duration of Internship:

Summer: May/June-August

Fall: September-December


Work hours are negotiable and can correspond to the requirements of the student's coursework.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Under the supervision of the Director of Individual Giving, the intern will provide research and administrative support, while learning a wide variety of skills.  Tasks will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintaining files of the department that allows the Phillips' to effectively maintain documentation on donors.
  • Assisting with entering and maintaining research information in the Department's fundraising database, Raiser's Edge.
  • Conducting research via the internet regarding membership and donor programs in museums nationally.
  • Providing administrative support for the Chairman's and Leadership Circle Programs. Chairman's Circle is a group of individuals giving $10,000 to the Museum annually, Leadership Circle individuals give $25,000 to the Phillips annually.
  • Providing assistance with Annual Gala, entering guestlist to database.
  • Follow-up phone calls for events to confirm whether or not guests are attending.
  • Stamping, stuffing, and addressing invitations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must be comfortable and discrete handling confidential information.
  • Strong written and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with standard office procedures and practices.
  • Ability to work independently, thoroughly and with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Pay Rate: unpaid
