The Phillips Collection Center for the Study of Modern Art is an unusual and energetic interdisciplinary forum that seeks to enhance the experience and understanding of the art of our time through the study of modern art, its sources, and its legacy. Appealing to a wide range of audiences, the Center's varied offerings engage artists, members of the public, scholars, students, and teachers.
The Center's offices, seminar room, and lecture space are in the Phillips family's former carriage house, behind the main building of The Phillips Collection. The Center hosts a wealth of public programs, including the early-evening Conversations with Artists series, the Duncan Phillips Lectures series, interdisciplinary symposia and other programs featuring distinguished speakers from around the country and the world.
The Center offers university-level lectures and seminars, which are open to students and the public. For more information on courses offered, contact the Program Coordinator: CSMAprograms@phillipscollection.org, 202-387-2151 x286.
In addition, the Center sponsors an annual Phillips Book Prize.
